With John Force going up in smoke almost immediately, Tim Wilkerson won with a 4.621 at 182.62. But the car caught fire late in the fire and became engulfed in flames before the Safety Safari was able to put out the flames. Wilkerson was out of the car quickly and escaped any injury.

After struggling during the first two qualifying sessions in Top Fuel, Brittany Force vaulted to the top with her run of 3.696-seconds at 327.90 mph in her 11,000-horsepower Flav-R-Pac/Monster Energy dragster. It was the Smith show again on Saturday in Pro Stock Motorcycle, with Matt Smith jumping past his wife, Angie, to take the No. 1 position with a run of 6.741 at 201.79 on his Denso Auto Parts Buell. Angie finished second, giving the husband and wife duo the top two spots in the class for the second time this season. In his first Countdown to the Championship appearance last season, Ashley advanced to the final round at his home track, and he opened this year’s playoffs on a fantastic note as he seeks his second No. 1 spot this season.
